Biology is The Science of Living Organisms
Read about the basic definition and concept of Biology "The Natural Science."
The word biology is taken from two Greek words "Bios" meaning life and "logos" meaning the study of. So the newest definition of biology is as "The science of life and living organisms, their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution and distribution etc.
Biology is divided into many branches. Some branches are as follows:-
Zoology: It is about the knowldge of animals.
Botany: It is about the knowledhe of plants.
Physiology: Scientific study of normal functions of living organisms.
Biochemistry: It is about the composition of cells and tissues.
Cell Biology: It is about the study of structue and functions of cells.
In short other branches are Astrobiology, Bioengineering, Comparative anatomy, Entomology, Ethology, Psychology, Haematology and Molecular biology etc.
Many scientists have worked on biology and develop it to it's latest form. Many new products are made by help of useful bio techniques. In agriculture, new varities of fruits introduced which have resistent against viruses, germs and diseases. Many crops are modified by help of bio techniques which have better quality, more yield and resistent against bacterial and viral diseases.
In medical science, many new methods of treatments of different diseases are introduce which are not only easy but also cheaper. Vaccines of polio, mumps and other diseases was made which terminate these diseases entirely from most countries of the world. Viruses and Bacteria are controlled by many biological methods.
Biology is also useful in food preservation by different methods. It increases the yield of food industry. Some food become preserve if it is heated under high temperature, i.e milk. Some food is placed in cold conditions to become save from bacterial action.
